Castaway is an action-adventure computer game by Belgian developer Appeal, released within 1999 by publisher Infogrames.

Plot

Within 2007 the U.S. government with success sends the probe to an alien globe within the parallel universe. A probe starts transmitting video images of the world back to Earth. So, upright minutes into a mission, an alien life form discovers the probe & restitution it, stimulating an unforseen backlash of energy to produce the black hole threatening Earth. Cutter Slade, the former U.S. Navy SEAL, is given the job of escorting three scientists on a mission to this alien world to recover the probe and close the black hole.

Arriving in that alien globe, Cutter is separated from either a more man of science & is hailed per indigen when their messiah.

Technology

the game utilized a voxel engine to render its outdoor landscapes.

Sequel

The sequel, Outcast II[http://www.outcastii.net/], was began on the other hand cancelled. A Open Outcast design[http://www.openoutcast.de/] is getting an open-source, loose sequel using the Crystal Space 3D engine.
